How To Setup The Broadcast Overlay in Le Mans Ultimate

A free World Endurance Championship style overlay is now provided by Le Mans Ultimate for you to use alongside your own hosted events so you can broadcast to your communities and followers.

The Broadcast Overlay included in the December 2024 update of Le Mans Ultimate is an external tool, enabling users to create live and recorded videos with a HTML overlay available to composite outside of the game.

At the time of publish, there are some small known bugs or refinements that for Broadcast Overlays and you should check the game’s known issues.

Getting Started

Firstly, you need to ensure Le Mans Ultimate is running and either start a Race Weekend session or join a hosted multiplayer session (for online, you should join as a spectator).

Open your browser of choice and navigate to http://localhost:6397/overlays/controlpanel.html which will bring up the Control Panel that allows you to change the overlay components. Note: you can replace [localhost] with an IP address of another computer if you want to control the overlay from a different PC.

You can then open the Overlay page – either in a web browser to check or directly inside your streaming tool of choice (such as OBS or vMix) at the following address: http://localhost:6397/overlays/overlays.html.

Overlays in OBS

Adding an HTML overlay to OBS is as simple as going to your “scene” and adding a “browser” then inputting the link to overlays.html. You should configure this size to 1920 x1080 as other resolutions are not supported at this time – you can still overlay this on a 4K or other resolution game capture.

When spectating, you should click the “watch” bar – then ensure you are “live” (not in replay).
