Le Mans Ultimate’s V1.3 update is already a significant one with final ELMS content, major performance improvements, and new layouts, but tucked inside it is arguably the most exciting piece of content for fans of Le Mans Ultimate and modern endurance racing: the Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar, and it’s free.
A Brand New Hypercar on the Grid
The GMR-001 is Genesis Magma Racing’s LMDh-spec prototype coming to the grid this 2026 season. As an LMDh machine, it’s eligible to race in both the FIA WEC Hypercar class and the IMSA GTP class, making it one of the most versatile top-tier racing cars on the planet.
The chassis was developed in collaboration with renowned French constructor Oreca, while the body was designed by Genesis Design Europe, drawing on Korean aesthetics and an aggressive, aero-focused silhouette. Under the skin sits a bespoke 3.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8, paired with the mandatory spec hybrid system, producing a combined output of around 670 horsepower. The whole programme is led by Hyundai Motorsport, with Cyril Abiteboul, the man who guided Hyundai to WRC glory, serving as team principal.
The engine fired for the first time in July 2025, and by late 2025, the car was accumulating serious mileage across an intensive testing programme at Paul Ricard, Magny-Cours, and Barcelona. By the time the 2026 WEC season comes around, Genesis Magma Racing will be ready, with a six-driver, two-car effort taking on Toyota, Ferrari, Cadillac, Alpine, BMW, Peugeot, and Aston Martin.
Studio 397 Were Dropping Hints
If you were paying attention to the V1.3 video, the signs were there. Studio 397 added Korean language support to the game, noting it was “ahead of our friends at Genesis joining the 2026 WEC grid”, and then signed off with a nudge to keep an eye out for Easter Eggs. You all looked at Daytona, but that was just a distraction. As it turns out, the Korean Easter Egg brings one of the most exciting cars on the current WEC grid to the game.
What to Expect in the Sim
Sharing the same hybrid LMDh architecture as the Porsche 963, BMW M Hybrid V8, and Cadillac V-Series.R already in the game, the GMR-001 slots straight into the Hypercar class. Expect a twin-turbo V8 soundtrack and the kind of performance that can genuinely trouble the Le Mans Hypercar grid going forward. We are sure Le Mans Ultimate won’t have made it a bad choice to race.
The game launches with the #17 entry only, with the #19 car to follow at a later date. In the #17, the Korean brand’s first two factory drivers, André Lotterer and Pipo Derani, share the wheel with Trajectory Programme graduate Mathys Jaubert, a pairing that blends multiple Le Mans victories’ worth of experience with one of the most exciting young talents in endurance racing.
Why This Matters for Le Mans Ultimate
The WEC Hypercar grid is the heart of Le Mans Ultimate, and every new manufacturer that joins it makes the game feel more complete and more current. With the 2026 real-world season now underway, having the GMR-001 in the sim means you can race the full grid, including one of the most talked-about new entries in endurance racing, right now. It’s a world exclusive and can only be found in Le Mans Ultimate.
The bonus? It’s a free addition with this update, which means every Le Mans Ultimate player gets it automatically. No season pass required, no separate purchase. Just update and race. Enjoy.
