Welcome To The Brand New 2024 DLC Pack 4

The new DLC comes with new cars, new tyre models, new AI, new HUD, new optimism.

The Pack 4 DLC, which is still part of the 2024 Season Pass even though we are into 2025, has a standalone price of €6.99 and brings to life the Aston Martin Vantage LMGT3 and the highly anticipated Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 (992). Alongside the two new cars comes a plethora of other quality-of-life updates to include a brand new GT3 tyre model influenced by real Le Mans GT3 drivers, a more refined UI, and changes to the offline AI racing experience. Accompanying the Pack 4 DLC is another car. The Ford Mustang GT3 in its LMGT3 version, for FREE!

If you paid attention to Stephen Hood’s last video message, it’s unfortunate that Qatar is not quite ready to be released, as they finish building that track from the ground up. It will come in a further DLC Pack in 2025, we assume accompanied by at least the Lexus and Lamborghini GT3, but we may even see the Mercedes GT3 make an appearance as well, now that Iron Lynx has switched manufacturers. Let’s wait and see what’s in store later this year on that front.

The Revised LMGT3 Tire Model

The LMGT3 class in Le Mans Ultimate already offers a high level of realism, with professional GT3 drivers praising the accuracy of cars, particularly in ABS behaviour and cornering dynamics. However, developer Studio 397 has refined the experience further, enhancing the LMGT3 tyre model based on driver feedback from the likes of David Perel, who is also the man behind the official setup partner of Le Mans Ultimate – Coach Dave Academy – with similar improvements planned for prototypes in the future.

LMU has a reputation for punishing drivers trying to push cold tyres, and this was the first issue addressed in the update. While the threshold for grip loss remains, the limit now feels more manageable to the average Joe. No longer will you be spinning in the pits, leaving the garage! The earlier feedback through the car’s movements and Force Feedback allowed for better control rather than sudden, uncontrollable spins. You notice this on the warm up laps as well. Whilst you still experience the cold tyre effects, you can make it around a warm up lap getting tyres into an operating window to push.

Le Mans Ultimate has always highlighted the handling differences between mid-engined and front-engined cars, with lighter front axles making precise turn-ins and trail braking crucial. Whilst there is more grip for everyone, you still experience some sliding due to the slip angles of the tyres, and over time, if you abuse them, you will suffer in race conditions. You have to manage them like a proper World Endurance Championship driver does over a race distance.

Get To Grips With Three New Cars

The racing gods (Studi 397) have graced us with three new spectacular racing machines, all amazing but all different in their own right, with varying levels of success on the circuit in real life. Le Mans Ultimate introduces the 2024 WEC Champions, Porsche; the 2024 Spa 24h winners, Aston Martin; and the 2024 Daytona 24h, Ford Mustang.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R

The Porsche 911 has a storied legacy in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), particularly within the GT categories. In 2024, the WEC transitioned from the GTE class to the LMGT3 category, adopting global GT3 regulations to enhance competition and manufacturer participation. Porsche embraced this change by introducing the 911 GT3 R (992) to the LMGT3 class.

In the 2024 season, the #92 Porsche 911 GT3 R, fielded by Manthey PureRxcing, secured the LMGT3 championship title, achieving two race victories and consistently strong performances.

Aston Martin Vantage GT3

The latest second-generation Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 succeeds the successful Vantage GTE in the World Endurance Championship, which scored a remarkable 52 class wins and 11 world titles between 2012 and 2023.

With familiar teams Heart of Racing and D’Station on the grid, the new car is already off to winning ways, having won the prestigious 24h of Spa and chalking up a win at COTA in 2024.

Ford Mustang GT3

The 7th generation Mustang, based off the Dark Horse model, is the freshest and latest car homologated to GT3 regulations. Revealed to the world in 2023 and making its racing debut in 2024, the platform is growing in competitiveness but is firmly a fan favourite with the iconic V8 rumble!

The multimatic-built machine returned to Le Mans in 2024, 27 years after a Mustang last competed in the great race and is now competing in multiple Sportscar and GT series internationally in 2025.

No New Circuits, But New Circuit Layouts

Whilst LMU have told us Qatar will come in a further DLC to complete the 2024 and 2025 WEC calendar, they did make sure the community had something else to keep them invested. New track variations. It’s a very clever move and something that other sims missed out on doing, namely ACC. Who doesn’t love alternative track layouts! We are sure they are going to be a hit with drivers. Here is the full list of alternative layouts introduced into Le Mans Ultimate:

  • Fuji Speedway – No chicane
  • Monza – No chicane
  • Spa-Francorchamps – Endurance Pits
  • Sebring – School
  • COTA – Club
  • Bahrain – Endurance
  • Bahrain – Paddock
  • Bahrain – Outer
  • Le Mans – No chicane

Improvements To The HUD and UI

The HUD has received several improvements. We can now see the available energy for each car displayed at the top—fuel for LMGT3 and LMP2 cars, and a combination of fuel and battery for Hypercars. The Relative display now uses colour coding to indicate whether we are on the same lap as an opponent or a lap ahead or behind—red signifies a lap ahead, while blue indicates a lap behind. Additionally, the lap delta box now provides more information, and the delta can be reset.

Racing the AI has also been refined. Now, the faster classes will be more respectful of slower cars—sometimes even overly cautious and won’t just ram you out of the way. Now, AI races can be enjoyed much more consistently, but occasional inconsistencies will still break through, just like mistakes in real-world racing. The strategic behaviour has been improved as well, with AI no longer replacing tyres unnecessarily. While overall consistency is solid, there is still room for further refinement.

Final Thoughts

Le Mans Ultimate may well be on the way to replacing ACC and iRacing and the very best GT3 platform on the market for sim racers. The current state of GTPs in iRacing is something to question as well, meaning LMU takes that top step on the podium as well right now. Ultimately, LMU is the best place to race for Hypercar and GT3 racing if you want to experience the World Endurance Championship in all it’s glory.

This new DLC Pack 4 just strengthens their position in the market, and early signs are fantastic when you look at Steam Charts. Le Mans Ultimate is reaching all-time highs for its player base. Hopefully, it continues on the right trajectory with its next update, and things get even more refined.

Get on the grid right now with the Le Mans Ultimate Season Pass, still available on Steam. The Season Pass will see you save a lot of money compared with purchasing all of the DLCs individually, so it’s definitely worth it.
